Ambitious As Ever: Oman Sail

Diam World tour is one of the interesting concepts introduced by Diam 24 one design. Oman Sail’s accomplishments started off with Diam’s world tour followed by their success in Pacific. Bernard Stamm’s Cheminees Poujoulat and Beijaflore team won second and third place respectively.

Oman credits their success to their consistency throughout the international season. In sailing EFG sailing Arabia, the team had secured third place in February and in July, it bagged the fourth place in the season centerpiece Tour Voile in France along with their co-skipper Thierry Douillard.

Their success did not stop there yet. Recently, they turned up runners-up in GP Pacifique that was started in Tahiti and ended in Bora Bora.

Team members including Oliver Gandon, Loick and Sleiman, Richard, Asher, Stevie, and all other core team members expressed their excitement about their victory in Diam World Tour during the interview. Abdulrahman Al Mashari said that the race was tougher than he had assumed and it was different from the ones he had competed earlier. Team head Morrison credited his teammates for their significant role in winning this title.

As he said, the tasks were really tough. One such was the task of sailing through crossing between the islands of Moorea and Huahine, which is of 80 miles and Oman sail did it 10 seconds. They were motivated by their previous success which they gained from local Tahiti in meager 100m from the finish line.

The winning team would be now seen competing for the prestigious EFG sailing Arabia – Season 2019 that begins from Muscat in February with golden Diam symbol on their sail.
